Project of the Year—Ancestry

Entries to be in by 10:00 am

Bring items from family history, – photos, items of craft work such as Doyleys, Tablecloths—all suitably written up with country of origin etc.

Please bring a plate to share for lunch.

Tea and coffee provided as well as Soup at $2 per mug.

Library and Yarn Area will be open from 10.00am

Come to the hall and spin in good company. Bring your current project and your finished one to show. Also bring any new items, books or interesting snippets to share and discuss.

Beginners always welcome. Tea and coffee are provided, but bring your lunch.

PROJECT OF THE YEAR – Ancestry

Competition Categories

SPINNING Any article from handspun yarn

a) 5 ply or under—equivalent to 14 + wraps per inch

b) over 5 ply—equivalent to less than 14 wpi

WEAVING a) loom weaving

b) off-loom weaving

FELTING

DYEING Natural or chemical dyes permitted. The entry may be a skein of commercial or handspun wool and will be judged on the quality of dyeing only.

GROUP ENTRY

Entry is open to Financial members of the Guild and members of financial affiliated groups.

There is no limit to the number of entries

Items may be entered in more than one category—e.g. Part of a group entry may also be an individual entry in one or both spinning or dyeing categories

Project of the Year 09

Wow! I’m back and judging ‘project of the year’. The theme was ‘Containers’. The work was amazing and I was blown away with the use of materials (all natural fibers) and the conciept of the container taken above & beyond my expectations.
The winners were:

The Scarf Exchange 2008

Sadly I was unable to attend this years Scarf Exchange Exhibition due to a broken ankle.

Project of the Year

On Saturday September 13th at Craft House, Spinners, knitters, weavers & felters all have the opportunity to enter their work with the theme of ‘The Kitchen’. You may enter work not related to the theme but it will not be judged but it will be displayed on the Show & Tell table.

A summary of the categories are as follows:

Spinning: Any article made from handspun yarn.    5ply & under.   Over 5ply.

Weaving: Off loom weaving.   Loom weaving.

Felting. 

Group Entry.

Knitting. Article to be knitted with commercially spun animal or plant fibre yarn (not man made)

President’s award: A entry chosen by the President receives a certificate and trophy.

Popular vote: Members are to cast a vote for their selection.
