Weavers on the radio

Jonathan Gifford from ABC 720′s afternoon show, visited the weavers guild at the craft house Menora. He talked to a few members about the guild and what weaving means to them. Connie and the girls had a great show of members work on display to show him while Jean & I talked Jonathan through the different techniques of weaving, spinning & dying and showed off  a sample of the work that will be on display at the ‘Golden Threads’ exhibition. The exhibition opens on Sept 1st at the Atwell Gallery, Canning Hwy,  Alfred Cove. Keep tuned to the ABC Perth local radio for the this interview.  (more pics on ‘Gallery’ page)

Project Of The Year Day ‘GOLD’

The Craft House was open from 9am this morning and over 40 entries were received. The judging was completed by (?) and Peggy Whitewood representing weaving & spinning respectively.

A clear message by Peggy Whitewood, was that more spinning & general entries are needed and a huge effort, mostly novice spinners are encouraged for next year’s competition. Please spread the word and I’ll keep working on the media coverage!

The Most popular vote: was won by Sue Greig for her beautiful scarf.

Best Spinning for 5ply and under: Margaret PC 

 

Best Spinning over 5ply: Ann Miller

Best Off Loom Weaving & Patron’s choice award: Sylvia Hilton-Shepherd

 

Best  Loom Weaving: Rosemary Skinner
